SBVC - Loretta Walsh Bennett

Loretta Walsh Bennett ‘35, a Valley College alumna and former Valley College school nurse, believed in the transformational value of higher education. Her commitment to serving others manifested in a lifelong career as a nurse, and she was an inspiration for others to pursue careers in healthcare. In 1913, Loretta was born on Mt. Vernon and Belleview, right down the street from what would become San Bernardino Valley College. She went to nursing school at Valley College and then put herself through Berkeley (UCB) by working as a nurse. Many years later (1961 through the late 1970s), she was the school nurse at Valley. The scholarship is intended to help students in need of assistance to continue their education.
