CHC - Aaron and Robin Race Memorial Scholarship

Aaron and Robin Race Memorial Scholarship – Aaron Race was a professor of English at Crafton Hills College. Always fascinated by words and how they could influence people, he was a student at both Crafton Hills College and California State University, San Bernardino. He then earned a Masters of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Southern Illinois University Carbondale and returned to the Inland Empire to teach. Aaron was a gifted educator, always pushing his students to do their best, while maintaining an exuberant and slightly off-center style. Although he was a creative writer, he taught English at all levels, with a particular interest in film and punk literature. Aaron lost his long battle with cancer on May 21, 2011, having left countless people indelibly marked by his vitality, creativity, and friendship. Pete & Bonnie Race established this scholarship for Aaron and his sister, Robin who passed away before Aaron.
