SBVC - Dr. Dorothy Pethel Memorial

Dr. Dorothy Pethel graduated from SBVC in 1953 with a major in vocational nursing. She obtained her RN and spent nine years working for the State of California Department of Mental Hygiene. Dorothy then accepted a position at Sierra Community College as the director of nursing and health science until her retirement in 1988. She was inducted into the SBVC Alumni Hall of Fame in 1989. The Pethel scholarship is for a single parent who is a nursing student and who recognizes the promise of an education. The scholarship committee of Everett-Hunter Department of Nursing selects the recipients.
