SBVC - Gloria Alemán Memorial

This scholarship honors Gloria Alemán who immigrated from Mexico at the age of nine and ultimately dedicated her life to her husband and children until her passing in 1995. Three of her four children attended, graduated, and worked at SBVC, one of whom continues to work for the District today. Gloria also worked at SBVC for a short time in the Bookstore where she enjoyed meeting all the students. We hope this scholarship will continue to encourage students towards their academic goals. Recipients must have completed 12 units at SBVC and plan to transfer to a four-year institution with a minimum 2.0 grade point average. Preference is given to Mexican-American students. We will award one scholarship to a male student and one to a female student.
